Food is the greatest and most basic of needs in Kibera. Without a balanced diet the children are
unable to grow and mature both physically and mentally. In addition to the orphanage providing a
roof over the heads of the children, and acting as a pre-school and elementary school during the
day, the orphanage also acts as a feeding center. As many as 100 children flock to the orphanage
each day in search of a hot meal. The Kibera Foundation provides the financial resources necessary
to make this feeding program possible.
